The gubernatorial and vice-gubernatorial candidate pair for Jakarta, Anies Baswedan-Sandiaga Uno, is predicted to win the Jakarta gubernatorial election in the second round. A survey by the research institute Lingkaran Survei Nasional (LSI) Denny JA shows that, leading up to the second round of the Jakarta gubernatorial election, Anies-Sandi's electability reached 51.4 percent, or 8.4 percent higher than the pair Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok)-Djarot Saiful Hidayat, who received 42.7 percent. This result is sufficient to meet the winning requirement for the Jakarta gubernatorial election, which is 50 percent + 1 vote.
The LSI Denny JA survey was conducted from April 7 to 10, 2017, interviewing 440 respondents spread across Jakarta and the Thousand Islands. In addition, this survey was also supplemented with qualitative research (FDG/focus group discussion, media analysis, and in-depth interviews). The method used was multistage random sampling with a margin of error of 4.8 percent.
Besides LSI Denny JA, other survey institutions such as SMRC, Median, and SDI have announced their latest research results. From all these institutions, Anies-Sandi is ahead of Ahok-Djarot, with the smallest difference at SMRC (around 1 percent) and the largest at LSI Denny JA (around 8 percent). To date, no survey institution has placed Ahok-Djarot's electability ahead of Anies-Sandi.
