Presidential Approval Rating: Jokowi's Performance Shows Consistent Strengthening

The Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) survey results show that the majority of respondents rated President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi's) performance as satisfactory.

Specifically, 21.8% of respondents rated it as "very satisfactory" and 55% as "quite satisfactory." In total, the "satisfied" category reached 76.8%.

Meanwhile, 16.8% of respondents chose "somewhat dissatisfied," and 2.9% chose "not satisfied at all." The total for the "dissatisfied" category reached 19.7%. Finally, 3.5% responded "don't know" or "didn't answer."

Looking at the trend, satisfaction with Jokowi's performance has tended to increase since the September 5-10, 2022 survey period. At that time, the figure was only 62.6%, down from 69.9% in August.

Then, in the September 24-28, 2022 survey period, it rose again to 64.8%. Moving to early October, it strengthened again to 64.8%. By early February 2023, satisfaction reached 75.9%.

"The level of satisfaction has consistently strengthened," wrote LSI in its report.

This LSI survey involved 1,229 respondents aged 17 years and older or already married in February 2023 and early April 2023.

Sample selection was conducted using the random digit dialing (RDD) method, which is a technique of selecting samples through the random generation of telephone numbers, followed by validation and screening processes.

Data was collected from March 31 to April 4, 2023, and published on Sunday, April 9, 2023.

The margin of error for this survey is estimated to be around 2.9%, with a 95% confidence level, assuming simple random sampling.

It should be noted that the satisfaction trend shown in the graph above is data from LSI, which also includes other sources such as Indikator, SMRC, and Litbang Kompas surveys.
