According to its track record, the highest growth in this province previously occurred in 2002 at 336.31%. According to a Ministry of Agriculture publication, data from 2023 shows that total water spinach production in the top 10 provinces reached 219,350 tons. The value from these 10 provinces represents 68.1% of the total from all provinces.
First place is West Java, which produced 63,200 tons. This province recorded an increase of 3,600 tons compared to the previous year. East Java is in second place. Compared to the same period the previous year, water spinach production in this province grew by -20.1%. In the same period the previous year, water spinach production in this province was recorded at 38,223 tons.
Furthermore, water spinach production in Central Java decreased by 4.83% to 30,145 tons compared to the same period the previous year, North Sumatra with water spinach production of 25,017 tons (up 8.76%), and East Nusa Tenggara with water spinach production of 14,020 tons (down 5.42%).
