Clothing and Footwear Prices in Surabaya Increased by 0.23% in April

Clothing component prices contributing to inflation in Surabaya in April reached 0.23%. This figure is lower than the previous month's 0.31%. Among the 10 inflation groups measured in this area, the clothing and footwear group contributed 0.28% to the regional inflation.

The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) reported that the consumer price index (CPI) for clothing and footwear in Surabaya was at 105.22 in April 2024, higher than the previous month's 104.98.

Compared to the same month last year, clothing and footwear inflation fell by 5.43% (year on year/yoy). Compared to the beginning of the year, prices of components contributing to inflation in Surabaya have grown by 0.8% (year to date/ytd).

According to BPS survey data for April 2024, these 11 inflation groups ranked third compared to other subgroups.

The following is the inflation of clothing and footwear subgroups measured by BPS for April in Surabaya:

• Footwear group: 0.33%


• Clothing group: 0.23%


• Clothing and footwear group: 0.28%

Compared to 119 other regencies/cities, the highest clothing and footwear inflation occurred in Kota Baru Regency at 0.21% with a CPI of 106.36, and the lowest occurred in Medan at 0.18% with a CPI of 104.31. Surabaya ranked 61st.

Indonesia's inflation realization reached 0.3% monthly and -7.27% annually. Although lower than the previous month's inflation, this monthly inflation rate is not as high as the same period last year, which was recorded at 4.33%.
