According to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Indonesia experienced an annual inflation rate of 3.48% (year-on-year/yoy) in March 2026.
This inflation rate decreased compared to February 2026, which reached 4.76% (yoy), but it was still relatively high compared to previous months.
From May 2024 to December 2025, Indonesia's annual inflation rate was consistently below 3% (yoy), as shown in the chart.
According to BPS, the high inflation in January-March 2026 was influenced by the low base effect.
Previously, in January-February 2025, the government implemented a policy of discounting electricity tariffs, so the price level at that time was below the normal trend and put pressure on the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
"If in January and February the impact was quite significant, in March the low base effect started to decrease a bit," said BPS Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics Ateng Hartono at a press conference on Wednesday (1/4/2026).
