Of the 17 sectors driving economic activity in this regency, agriculture, forestry, and fisheries are the leading sectors.
Agriculture, forestry, and fisheries are ranked first. In 2023, this sector contributed the largest GRDP, reaching Rp21.12 trillion, with a growth of 4.44%.
Second is the manufacturing industry, growing by 3.54% to Rp10.88 trillion, followed by the wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles sector with a GRDP of Rp9.73 trillion (5.99% growth).
Finally, rounding out the top five GRDP sectors in Asahan Regency is transportation and warehousing, valued at Rp1.84 trillion. According to BPS, this sector grew by 11.19% over the past year from the previous year's Rp1.56 trillion.
