Prevalence of Food Consumption Inadequacy in Karimun Reaches 13.2% in 2024

According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Karimun Regency, Riau Islands, was 13.2% in 2024.

This figure decreased by 1.5% from the previous year's 14.7%, while over the last 5 years, it increased by 8.08%.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.27% in 2024. This means that the PoU in Karimun Regency is higher than the national average.

The National Food Agency (Bapanas) defines PoU as a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy required for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity conditions.

This means that less than 13.2% of the total population in Karimun Regency consumes food, but their energy needs are not met.
