Warning! Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki Erupts Again This Afternoon (Friday, October 3, 2025)

Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Nusa Tenggara erupted again on Friday (October 3, 2025) at 13:44 WITA. In the last week, Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki has erupted 33 times.

Citing eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the height of the observed ash column reached 400 meters above the peak (1,984 meters above sea level).

The ash column was observed to be gray with moderate intensity towards the west and northwest. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 5.9 millimeters and a duration of 114 seconds.

According to MAGMA Indonesia's volcanic activity report, the activity level of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki is at Level III (Alert). Seismicity observations on October 3, 2025, from 06:00-12:00 WITA, showed 1 eruption earthquake with an amplitude of 11 millimeters and a duration of 199 seconds.

Subsequently, 1 exhalation earthquake with an amplitude of 7.4 millimeters and a duration of 35 seconds, and 5 non-harmonic tremors with amplitudes of 5.1-7.4 millimeters and durations of 84-140 seconds occurred.

PVMBG urges the public around Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki and visitors/tourists not to carry out any activities within a 6-kilometer radius from the center of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki's eruption.

Throughout 2025, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 6,518 volcanic eruptions across Indonesia. Mount Semeru in East Java erupted the most (2,550 times), while Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki erupted 676 times.
