Prevalence of Food Consumption Insufficiency in Dairi Rises 2.71% in Last 5 Years

Based on data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Dairi Regency, North Sumatra, reached 6.72% in 2024.

This figure decreased by 0.94% from the previous year's 7.66%, while it increased by 2.71% in the last 5 years.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.27% in 2024. This means that the PoU in Dairi Regency is lower than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy required for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that less than 6.72% of the total population in Dairi Regency consumes food but has insufficient energy intake.
