Prevalence of Inadequate Food Consumption in Sintang Drops 10.2% in the Last 5 Years

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Sintang Regency, West Kalimantan reached 13.16% in 2025.

This figure decreased by 1.95% from the previous year's 15.11%, while in the last 5 years it dropped by 10.2%.

Indonesia's average PoU in 2025 was 7.89%. This means that PoU in Sintang Regency is higher than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needed for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to observe food and nutrition security conditions.

This means that the population of Sintang Regency who consume food but do not meet their energy needs is up to 13.16% of the total population.

Compared to the other 13 regencies/cities in West Kalimantan Province, Sintang Regency's PoU ranks 5th. The regions with the lowest PoU (top ranks) are Pontianak City (7.54%) and the highest (last rank) is Melawi Regency (19.49%).
