Food Insecurity Prevalence in Serang Reaches 3.23% in 2023

According to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Serang Regency, Banten, was 3.23% in 2023.

This figure is up 0.33% from the previous year's 2.9%, and up 0.67% over the past five years.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.53% in 2023. This means that the PoU in Serang Regency is lower than the national average.

The National Food Agency (Bapanas) defines PoU as a condition where an individual regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needs for a normal, active, and healthy life. This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that the population in Serang Regency who consume food but whose energy needs are insufficient, does not reach 3.23% of the total population.
