135 Hotspots Detected in Indonesia in the Last 24 Hours (Wednesday, December 24, 2025)

Based on the SiPongi forest and land fire monitoring system of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), monitoring in the last 24 hours shows that 135 hotspots were detected in Indonesia. This number of hotspots decreased by 15 points compared to the previous period.

The data is the result of Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA satellite imagery accessed on Wednesday (12/24/2025) at 11:36 AM WIB. Of the 135 detected hotspots, 1 point had a high confidence level, 132 points were on a medium scale, and 2 points were on a low scale.

Hotspot confidence levels are divided into 3 scales. The low scale has a range of 0 - 29, the medium scale 30 - 79, and the high scale 80 - 100. The higher the hotspot confidence level, the higher the likelihood of forest and land fires occurring in a particular area.

The most detected hotspots were in North Maluku with 16 points. West Sumatra ranked second with 16 hotspots. Southeast Sulawesi was in third place with 15 hotspots.

As many as 13 hotspots were detected in East Java, followed by North Sumatra with 13 hotspots, and Bengkulu and Bangka Belitung Islands each had 11 and 9 detected hotspots.

A hotspot is a coordinate point of an area that has a higher surface temperature than its surroundings, and not the number of forest and land fire incidents.

However, a large number of clustered hotspots in an area indicate the occurrence of forest and land fires. This means that hotspot data from remote sensing satellite detection is still the most effective in monitoring forest and land fires for large areas.
