KLHK: Number of Hotspots in Indonesia Reaches 1,708 in the Last 24 Hours (Friday, August 1, 2025)

Based on the SiPongi forest and land fire monitoring system of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), monitoring in the last 24 hours showed that 1,708 hotspots were detected in Indonesia. This number of hotspots decreased by 901 points compared to the previous period.

The data is the result of Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA satellite imagery accessed on Friday (August 1, 2025) at 11:12 AM WIB. Of the 1,708 detected hotspots, 97 points had a high confidence level, 1528 points had a medium confidence level, and 83 points had a low confidence level.

Hotspot confidence levels are divided into 3 scales. A low scale has a range of 0 - 29, a medium scale 30 - 79, and a high scale 80 - 100. The higher the hotspot confidence level, the higher the likelihood of forest and land fires occurring in a certain area.

The most detected hotspots were in West Kalimantan, with 904 points. East Kalimantan ranked second with 157 hotspots. Riau was in third place with 111 hotspots.

A total of 62 hotspots were detected in Central Kalimantan, followed by Central Sulawesi with 56 hotspots, and East Nusa Tenggara and East Java each had 51 and 45 detected hotspots.

A hotspot is a coordinate point in an area that has a higher surface temperature than its surroundings, and is not the number of forest and land fire incidents.

However, a large number of clustered hotspots in an area indicates the occurrence of forest and land fires. This means that hotspot data from remote sensing satellite detection is still the most effective in monitoring forest and land fires for large areas.
