Prevalence of Food Consumption Inadequacy in Jepara Decreased by 2.16% in the Last Year

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Jepara Regency, Central Java, was 7.86% in 2024.

This figure decreased by 2.16% from 10.02% in the previous year, and by 6.0% in the last 5 years.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.27% in 2024. This means that the PoU in Jepara Regency is lower than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needed for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that less than 7.86% of the total population in Jepara Regency consumes food but has insufficient energy intake.

Compared to 34 other regencies/cities in Central Java Province, Jepara Regency ranks 13th for PoU. The region with the lowest PoU (top rank) is Salatiga City (4.04%), and the highest (last rank) is Wonosobo Regency (13.39%).
