Mount Semeru Erupts Again Tonight (Saturday, October 11, 2025)

Mount Semeru in East Java erupted again on Saturday (10/11/2025) at 00.25 WIB. In the last week, Mount Semeru has erupted 39 times.

Based on eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the height of the ash column was observed to be around None meters above the peak (None meters above sea level).

Eruption visuals were not observed. Mount Semeru's eruption is still ongoing as this report is being made.

According to the MAGMA Indonesia volcano activity report, Mount Semeru's activity level is at Level II (Alert). Seismicity observations on October 11, 2025, from 00:00-23:59 WIB showed 71 eruption/explosive earthquakes with amplitudes of 10-22 millimeters and durations of 57-174 seconds.

Followed by 3 rockfall earthquakes with amplitudes of 2-3 mm and durations of 54-69 seconds, and 6 shallow volcanic earthquakes with amplitudes of 3-8 millimeters and durations of 36-66 seconds.

PVMBG urges not to carry out any activities in the southeast sector along Besuk Kobokan, as far as 8 kilometers from the peak (eruption center). Beyond that distance, the public is advised not to carry out activities within 500 meters from the riverbanks (river borders) along Besuk Kobokan due to the potential for hot cloud expansion and lava flows up to 13 kilometers from the peak.

Throughout 2025, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 6,615 volcanic eruptions across Indonesia. Mount Semeru in East Java has erupted the most with 2,600 times.
