852 Hotspots Detected in Indonesia in the Last 24 Hours (Tuesday, August 12, 2025)

Based on the SiPongi forest and land fire monitoring system of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), monitoring in the last 24 hours shows that 852 hotspots were detected in Indonesia. This number increased by 75 points compared to the previous period.

This data is the result of imaging from Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA satellites, accessed on Tuesday (August 12, 2025) at 11:21 AM WIB. Of the 852 detected hotspots, 23 points had a high confidence level, 752 points were at a moderate scale, and 77 points were at a low scale.

Hotspot confidence levels are divided into 3 scales. The low scale ranges from 0 - 29, the moderate scale from 30 - 79, and the high scale from 80 - 100. The higher the hotspot confidence level, the higher the likelihood of forest and land fires occurring in a particular area.

The most detected hotspots were in East Nusa Tenggara with 438 points. East Kalimantan ranked second with 62 hotspots. Maluku was in third position with 53 hotspots.

As many as 51 hotspots were detected in West Kalimantan, followed by West Nusa Tenggara with 43 hotspots, and Southeast Sulawesi and North Maluku each having 31 and 29 detected hotspots.

A hotspot is a coordinate point of an area that has a higher surface temperature than its surroundings, and not the number of forest and land fire incidents.

However, a large number of concentrated hotspots in an area indicates the occurrence of forest and land fires. This means that hotspot data from satellite remote sensing detection is still the most effective in monitoring forest and land fires over wide areas.
