Prevalence of Insufficient Food Consumption in Pariaman City Decreased by 1.08% in the Last Year

Referring to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the prevalence of food inadequacy (Prevalence of Undernourishment/PoU) in Pariaman City, West Sumatra reached 7.3% in 2024.

This figure decreased by 1.08% from the previous year''s 8.38%, while in the last 5 years, it increased by 4.0%.

Indonesia''s average PoU was 8.27% in 2024. This means that the PoU in Pariaman City is lower than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy required for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that the population in Pariaman City who consume food but have insufficient energy requirements is not more than 7.3% of the total population.
