Prevalence of Inadequate Food Consumption in Pekanbaru City Increased by 2.66% in the Last 5 Years

According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the prevalence of food inadequacy (Prevalence of Undernourishment/PoU) in Pekanbaru City, Riau reached 10.08% in 2024.

This figure decreased by 1.67% from the previous year''s 11.75%, while over the last 5 years, it increased by 2.66%.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.27% in 2024. This means that the PoU in Pekanbaru City is higher than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy required for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that the residents of Pekanbaru City who consume food but whose energy requirements are inadequate do not exceed 10.08% of the total population.
