Prevalence of Food Consumption Inadequacy in Garut Decreased by 0.74% in the Last Year

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Garut Regency, West Java reached 5.02% in 2024.

This figure decreased by 0.74% from the previous year's 5.76%, while in the last 5 years, it increased by 0.6%.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.27% in 2024. This means that the PoU in Garut Regency is lower than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy required for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that less than 5.02% of the total population in Garut Regency consumes food but lacks sufficient energy.
