Prevalence of Inadequate Food Consumption in Banjar Rises 1.08% in the Last 5 Years

According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the Prevalence of Undernourishment (PoU) in Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan reached 4.25% in 2025.

The figure increased by 0.28% from the previous year's 3.97%, while in the last 5 years it rose by 1.08%.

Indonesia's average PoU in 2025 was 7.89%. This means that the PoU in Banjar Regency is lower than the national average.

The National Food Agency (Bapanas) defines PoU as a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needs for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to observe food and nutrition security conditions.

This means that the population of Banjar Regency who consume food but lack sufficient energy needs do not reach 4.25% of the total population.

Compared to the other 12 regencies/cities in South Kalimantan Province, Banjar Regency ranks 9th in terms of PoU. The regions with the lowest PoU (top ranks) are Tanah Bumbu Regency (2.48%) and the highest (last rank) is Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency (6.16%).
