Ministry of Environment and Forestry: Number of Hotspots in Indonesia Reaches 106 in the Last 24 Hours (Monday, December 29, 2025)

Based on the SiPongi forest and land fire monitoring system of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), monitoring in the last 24 hours shows that 106 hotspots were detected in Indonesia. This number of hotspots increased by 71 points compared to the previous period.

The data is the result of Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA satellite imagery accessed on Monday (12/29/2025) at 11:36 AM WIB. Of the 106 detected hotspots, 2 points have a high confidence level and 104 points have a moderate confidence level.

Hotspot confidence levels are divided into 3 scales. The low scale ranges from 0 - 29, the moderate scale from 30 - 79, and the high scale from 80 - 100. The higher the hotspot confidence level, the higher the likelihood of forest and land fires occurring in a particular area.

The most detected hotspots were in Central Sulawesi, with 39 points. East Kalimantan ranked second with 15 hotspots. Southeast Sulawesi was in third place with 15 hotspots.

As many as 10 hotspots were detected in North Maluku, followed by East Java with 7 hotspots, and South Sulawesi and South Kalimantan each having 7 and 3 detected hotspots.

A hotspot is a coordinate point of an area that has a higher surface temperature than its surroundings, and is not the number of forest and land fire incidents.

However, a large number of clustered hotspots in an area indicates the occurrence of forest and land fires. This means that hotspot data detected by remote sensing satellites is still the most effective in monitoring forest and land fires over large areas.
