Prevalence of Food Consumption Inadequacy in Mojokerto Increased by 2.91% in the Last 5 Years

According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Mojokerto Regency, East Java, was 6.94% in 2024.

This figure increased by 0.33% from the previous year's 6.61%, while in the last 5 years, it rose by 2.91%.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.27% in 2024. This means that the PoU in Mojokerto Regency is lower compared to the national average.

The National Food Agency (Bapanas) defines PoU as a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy required for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity conditions.

This means that less than 6.94% of the total population in Mojokerto Regency consumes food but has insufficient energy needs.

Compared to 37 other regencies/cities in East Java Province, Mojokerto Regency's PoU ranks 15th. The area with the lowest PoU (top rank) is Surabaya City (2.37%), and the highest (last rank) is Situbondo Regency (17.35%).
