Indragiri Hulu Population''s Food Consumption Insufficiency Rate Decreased by 11.22% in 2024

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the prevalence of food insufficiency (Prevalence of Undernourishment/PoU) in Indragiri Hulu Regency, Riau reached 11.22% in 2024.

This figure decreased by 1.09% from 12.31% in the previous year, while in the last 5 years it increased by 3.15%.

The average PoU for Indonesia was 8.27% in 2024. This means that the PoU in Indragiri Hulu Regency is higher compared to the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needed for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that less than 11.22% of the total population in Indragiri Hulu Regency consumes food but lacks sufficient energy.
