Prevalence of Inadequate Food Consumption in West Muna Decreases by 5.15% in the Last Year

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in West Muna Regency, Southeast Sulawesi, reached 14.85% in 2023.

This figure is down 5.15% from the previous year's 20.0%, while it has increased by 1.74% over the past five years.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.53% in 2023. This means that the PoU in West Muna Regency is higher than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needs for a normal, active, and healthy life. This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that the population in West Muna Regency who consume food but whose energy needs are insufficient does not reach 14.85% of the total population.
