Pasaman Residents' Food Consumption Inadequacy Rate Rose by 8.74% in 2024

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the prevalence of food inadequacy (Prevalence of Undernourishment/PoU) in Pasaman Regency, West Sumatra, was 8.74% in 2024.

This figure increased by 0.07% from the previous year''s 8.67%, while in the last 5 years, it rose by 2.6%.

The average PoU for Indonesia was 8.27% in 2024. This means that the PoU in Pasaman Regency is higher compared to the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy required for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that less than 8.74% of the total population in Pasaman Regency consumes food but lacks sufficient energy.

Compared to 18 other regencies/cities in West Sumatra Province, Pasaman Regency''s PoU ranks 12th. The region with the lowest PoU (top rank) is Padang Panjang City (5.33%), and the highest (last rank) is South Solok Regency (10.95%).
