Based on national Covid-19 data, 154 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests above the national average. Data as of Wednesday, December 21, 2022, shows a national average of 0.53 tests per 1000 people per week.
The top five, starting with the highest number of people tested per 1000 people per week, are South Jakarta (5.14 people), Central Jakarta (4.94 people), Balikpapan (4.88 people), East Jakarta (3.73 people), and South Tangerang (3.3 people).
South Jakarta ranks first, with 5.14 people tested per 1000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 4.2 percent, down from the previous week.
Next is Central Jakarta, with a population of 913,720. In efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 4.94 people per 1000 people per week were tested. The positive rate is 4.85 percent, also down from the previous week.
Balikpapan recorded 4.88 tests per 1000 people per week, East Jakarta 3.73, and South Tangerang 3.3.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact, national Covid-19 data shows 115 regencies/cities actively reporting higher daily testing numbers than before. Meanwhile, 219 regencies/cities recorded lower testing numbers compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan (4.88 people), Gunungsitoli (2.89 people), and Badung (2.84 people).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
