Based on national Covid-19 data, 151 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests above the national average. Data as of Friday, September 16, 2022, shows a national average of 0.5 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, starting with the highest number of tests per 1,000 people per week, are South Jakarta (5.29 people), Central Jakarta (5.23 people), Balikpapan (4.34 people), West Jakarta (3.73 people), and South Tangerang (3.56 people).
South Jakarta ranks first, with 5.29 tests per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 8.67 percent, down from the previous week.
Next is Central Jakarta, with a population of 913,720. To combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 5.23 tests per 1,000 people per week were conducted. The positive rate is 9.62 percent, also down from the previous week.
Balikpapan conducted 4.34 tests per 1,000 people per week; West Jakarta, 3.73 tests per 1,000 people per week; and South Tangerang, 3.56 tests per 1,000 people per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact, national Covid-19 data shows 153 regencies/cities actively reporting higher daily test numbers than before. 157 other regencies/cities recorded lower test numbers compared to the previous week.
Outside Java, cities with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan (4.34 people), Mimika (3.24 people), and Badung (2.99 people).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
