To curb the spread of Covid-19 in regions, currently 145 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting Covid-19 tests exceeding the national average over the past week. Data as of Sunday, November 20, 2022, shows a national average of 137.45 tests per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Malang, Jepara, Demak, Sukoharjo, and Pekanbaru City, with respective weekly test numbers of 954, 938, 916, 908, and 886.
Malang ranks first. The number of people tested in the last week was 954. The latest positive rate is 20.34 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Next is Jepara. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested last week was 938. The positive rate in this region is recorded at eight percent, a decrease from the previous week.
Then, Demak recorded 916 tests per week, Sukoharjo recorded 908, and Pekanbaru City recorded 886.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, 171 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests in the last week compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 149 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests last week compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, some regions with the highest number of tests last week include Pekanbaru City, Batam City, and Bandar Lampung City, with 886, 855, and 752 tests respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
