The Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) has confirmed that the 2023 Hajj pilgrimage quota has returned to normal levels, as before the Covid-19 pandemic. According to the official Kemenag website, the quota for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims is 221,000.
This comprises 203,320 regular pilgrims and 17,680 special pilgrims. The quota for Hajj officials in 2023 is 4,200.
With the restoration of the Hajj quota, the age restrictions for pilgrimage have also been officially lifted. Starting this year, pilgrims aged 65 and above can perform the Hajj.
So, which regions in Indonesia currently have the longest Hajj waiting lists?
Based on the official Kemenag website accessed on Thursday (22/6/2023), Bantaeng Regency, South Sulawesi, has the longest estimated Hajj waiting time in Indonesia, at 47 years.
Sidrap Regency, South Sulawesi, follows in second place with a 46-year waiting time. This is followed by Pinrang Regency, South Sulawesi, with an estimated waiting time of 44 years.
Meanwhile, West Maluku Daya Regency has the shortest Hajj waiting time, at 11 years.

1. Bantaeng Regency: 47 years
2. Sidrap Regency: 46 years
3. Pinrang Regency: 44 years
4. Bontang City: 43 years
5. Parepare City: 43 years
6. Makassar City: 41 years
7. Wajo Regency: 41 years
8. Jeneponto Regency: 40 years
9. Nunukan Regency: 40 years
10. Mamuju Tengah Regency: 39 years
