Indonesia's Non-Oil and Gas Imports Reach US$164.21 Billion by October 2022: Top Importing Countries Revealed

The Central Statistics Agency reported that Indonesia's total non-oil and gas imports from January to October 2022 reached US$164.21 billion. On a monthly basis, the total value of non-oil and gas imports from 13 countries in October 2022 reached US$12,392.3 million, a decrease of US$771.1 million (5.86 percent) compared to September 2022.

Indonesia's total non-oil and gas imports from China reached US$55.4 billion during the January-October 2022 period. This was the highest amount compared to other countries during that period.

With that amount, China contributed 33.79% of Indonesia's total non-oil and gas imports. This was followed by Japan at US$14,135.4 million (8.61 percent), and Thailand at US$9,251.8 million (5.63 percent). Significant contributions also came from ASEAN countries at US$27,814.8 million (16.94 percent) and the European Union at US$9,436.1 million (5.75 percent).

In October 2022, only imports of consumer goods increased by US$161.0 million (10.13 percent). Meanwhile, raw materials/supporting goods and capital goods decreased by US$594.6 million (3.99 percent) and US$239.4 million (7.22 percent), respectively.

During the January-October 2022 period, all categories of goods experienced an increase compared to the same period the previous year. The highest increase was seen in imports of raw materials/supporting goods at US$35,339.7 million (30.10 percent), followed by capital goods at US$7,114.7 million (31.77 percent) and consumer goods at US$657.7 million (4.19 percent).

Based on their role during January-October 2022, Indonesian imports were dominated by raw materials/supporting goods valued at US$152,765.0 million (76.91 percent), followed by capital goods at US$29,508.3 million (14.86 percent) and consumer goods at US$16,348.6 million (8.23 percent).
