Communication skills are the most in-demand employee skill for companies in Indonesia.
This is recorded in a survey report by Populix and KitaLulus, titled *Bridging the Gap: Understanding Job Mismatch in Today's Workforce*.
In June 2024, Populix and KitaLulus surveyed 100 employers or companies operating domestically.
The majority, or 78%, of respondents were small or medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and 22% were large companies.
Respondents came from diverse industry sectors, including consumer products, education, healthcare, retail, tourism, e-commerce, automotive, beauty, energy, information technology, manufacturing, and others.
The results showed that the majority, or 75%, of respondents stated a need for employees with communication skills.
Many also needed workers with adaptability skills, multitasking skills, sales skills, and others, as shown in the graph.
However, the majority, or 61%, of respondents admitted to having difficulty finding prospective employees, because many applicants still lack experience.
"For employers, finding the right employees is becoming increasingly difficult because the required qualifications or skills are changing rapidly due to technological advancements," according to the Populix and KitaLulus report.
