According to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), rice production growth in South Kalimantan in 2023 increased by 1.94% to 835,280 tons. Over the past 16 years, provincial rice production has shown an upward trend.
Previously, according to the records of the last 16 years, the highest growth rate in South Kalimantan occurred in 1999 with a growth of 31.16%, while the average for the last six years recorded a growth of -14.69%.
**Top 10 List:**
According to the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) publication, data for 2023 shows that total rice production for the top 10 provinces reached 44.95 million tons. This amount represents 83.82% of the total production from all provinces.
East Java ranks first, with the BPS recording rice production of 9.59 million tons. Year-on-year data shows a 0.68% increase compared to the same period the previous year.
West Java follows in second place. Compared to the same period the previous year, rice production in this province decreased by -3.58%. Rice production is reported at 9.1 million tons. Annual statistics show a 3.58% decrease compared to the same period the previous year, which recorded 9.43 million tons.
Next is Central Java with rice production of 9.06 million tons (down 3.15%), South Sulawesi with 4.94 million tons (down 7.78%), and South Sumatra with 2.76 million tons (down 0.47%).
