Polling Institute Survey: PDI-P Takes the Lead, Surpassing Gerindra and Golkar in Electability

The Polling Institute research agency released the results of a survey on the electability of political parties contesting the 2024 General Election. The results show that the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) still dominates the electability landscape as of August 2023.

"The PDI-P remains the most dominant, with a fairly stable figure of 25.7%," said Polling Institute Executive Director Kennedy Muslim in an online presentation on Sunday (September 10, 2023).

The party's electability significantly surpasses that of other parties, such as Gerindra (15.2%) and Golkar (9%), which round out the top three.

Meanwhile, Kennedy explained that mid-sized parties remain within the margin of error.

This group includes the Democratic Party with an electability rating of 6.8%, followed by three other parties: PKS (6.2%), PKB (5.2%), and NasDem (4.6%).

The remaining 10 parties received less than 4% of the vote. Several established parties fall into this category, including PAN (3.9%) and PPP (1.9%).

The proportion of respondents who did not answer or did not know remains quite high, at 16.6%.

The Polling Institute survey involved 1,201 respondents aged 17 and above or who are married. The sample was selected using random digit dialing (RDD).

Data collection was conducted from August 21-25, 2023, using telephone interviews. The survey has a margin of error of approximately 2.9% and a 95% confidence level.
