SMRC: Most NasDem Voters Support Ganjar as 2024 Presidential Candidate

Based on a survey by Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC), the majority of voters from the National Democrat Party (NasDem) support Ganjar Pranowo if the presidential election (Pilpres) were held today.

The survey results show that 41% of NasDem voters in 2019 would choose Ganjar if the Pilpres were held now. Meanwhile, 31% would choose Anies Baswedan and 12% would choose Prabowo Subianto.

SMRC founder, Saiful Mujani, said that this data is quite consistent with the opinions expressed by NasDem elites in their recent national working meeting (Rakernas). This is because Anies and Ganjar were two of the three figures chosen in the Rakernas as prospective presidential candidates (capres) in 2024.

"In general, the aspirations developed by the NasDem DPW are quite consistent with NasDem voters themselves. This means that NasDem listens to what their voters say," he said, as quoted from *Katadata.co.id*, Saturday (18/6/2022).

Furthermore, Saiful continued, this data is interesting because Ganjar is a cadre of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan). Therefore, according to him, it shows that NasDem is quite open to various aspirations developing in society.

This Professor of Political Science at UIN Jakarta said that one possible reason why NasDem is quite open to the names circulating in society is because the main figure of NasDem himself will not run in the 2024 Pilpres.

This SMRC survey was conducted on 1,220 respondents across Indonesia aged 17 years or older, or who are married. The survey was conducted from May 10-17, 2022.

The survey population was selected using stratified multistage random sampling, with a response rate of 87%, a margin of error of approximately 3.07%, and a confidence level of 95%.
