Three Survey Institutions Predict Prabowo-Sandi Victory

As the 2019 Presidential Election (Pilpres) approached, many institutions released their survey results. Of the many surveys released, three showed the Prabowo-Sandi presidential/vice-presidential ticket winning.

The three institutions that predicted a victory for the number 02 ticket were New Indonesia, the Center for Policy and Strategic Development Studies (Puskaptis), and Precision Public Policy Polling (PPPP). According to the New Indonesia survey, Prabowo-Sandi led Jokowi-Ma'ruf by 7.6%. The Puskaptis survey showed the number 02 ticket leading the number 01 ticket by 2.2%, while the PPPP survey indicated a 17% lead for Prabowo-Sandi over their opponent.

However, some circles questioned the results from Puskaptis and PPPP. This doubt is not unfounded, as in the 2014 Presidential Election, Puskaptis conducted a quick count that predicted a victory for the Prabowo-Hatta Rajasa ticket. However, the KPU's official count showed Jokowi-JK winning with 53.15% of the vote, while Prabowo-Hatta received 46.85%. Furthermore, PPPP has not been known to conduct political surveys in Indonesia before.
