Denny JA's LSI Survey: Six Parties Supporting Jokowi-Ma'ruf at Risk of Failing to Enter Parliament

Six out of the ten political parties supporting the presidential and vice-presidential candidate pair number 01, Jokowi-Ma'ruf, risk failing to enter parliament due to their vote share falling below the 4% parliamentary threshold. Therefore, only four parties supporting pair number 01 have a chance of entering the Senayan (Parliament building), namely PDIP, PKB, Golkar, and Nasdem.

Based on the LSI Denny JA survey in January 2019, two new parties supporting Jokowi-Ma'ruf, namely Persatuan Indonesia (Perindo) and Partai Solidaritas Indonesia (PSI), still have electability below the threshold. Similarly, four older parties supporting pair number 01, namely Partai Persatuan Pembangunan (PPP), Hanura, Partai Bulan Bintang (PBB), and Partai Keadilan dan Persatuan Indonesia (PKPI), are also below the 4% threshold.

Three coalition parties supporting pair number 01 even have electability below one percent. This means that these six coalition parties supporting pair number 01 must work hard before the April 17, 2019, general election. Besides supporting their nominated presidential/vice-presidential candidates, they must also strive to achieve 4% of the total valid votes in the election to secure seats for their members in the DPR RI (House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia) for the 2019-2024 period.
