One in five millennials agree with the caliphate system.

An IDN Research Institute report titled "Indonesia Millennial Report" reveals that one in five millennials agree with a caliphate system of government. According to the survey, 19.5% of millennials stated that Indonesia would be more ideal as a caliphate. However, the majority (81.5%) of the 20-35 year-old population still supports the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).

While millennials are generally not a generation that adheres to radical ideologies, the 19.5% who support a caliphate system represent a potential vulnerability to radicalism. This potential is particularly present among older millennials and female millennials.

The IDN Research Institute survey was conducted from August 20 to September 6, 2018, involving 1,400 respondents in 12 major Indonesian cities. Sampling used a multistage random sampling method with face-to-face interviews, and a margin of error of 2.62%.
