Survey Indicator: The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Rated as the Most Trusted Institution by the Public

The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) is the most trusted institution among the Indonesian public, according to a survey by Indikator Politik Indonesia released on Sunday, January 9, 2022. Public trust in the TNI was recorded at 92.2%, higher than any other institution.

However, trust in the TNI decreased by 2.1% compared to the previous survey. In the November 2021 survey, public trust in the TNI was recorded at 94.3%.

Meanwhile, the Presidency ranked second with a trust level of 82.7%. Below the Presidency is the Indonesian National Police (Polri) which received a public trust rating of 74.1%.

Trust in other state institutions followed, with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) at 71.7%. This was followed by the Attorney General's Office at 70.9%, the Regional Representative Council (DPD) at 64%, the House of Representatives (DPR) at 61.3%, and Political Parties at 52.9%.

Trust levels in state institutions in this survey mostly showed a decline, with the sharpest drop being the Polri at 7.6%. The previous survey in November 2021 showed a trust level of 80.2% for the Polri.

Meanwhile, the institution showing the highest increase in trust was the KPK at 0.8%. Public trust in the KPK in the previous survey was recorded at 71.1%.

Indikator Politik conducted this survey from December 6-11, 2021, with a sample size of 1,220 respondents. The sampling method used was multistage random sampling. The survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews. The margin of error is approximately 2.9% and the confidence level is 95%.
