An Indonesian Political Indicator survey shows Prabowo Subianto's electability surpasses Ganjar Pranowo and Anies Baswedan in a simulation of three presidential candidates (capres) without considering vice-presidential candidates (cawapres).
Prabowo's electability reached 40.6%, while Ganjar's was 27.8%, and Anies's 23.7%. The remaining 7.9% of respondents did not answer the survey question.
"In the simulation without cawapres, Prabowo significantly outperforms Ganjar and Anies," said Burhanuddin Muhtadi, Senior Researcher at Indikator Politik, in an online press conference on Indikator Politik's YouTube channel on Sunday (12/11/2023).
The difference between Prabowo's and Ganjar's electability is quite significant, at 12.8 percentage points. Meanwhile, the difference between Prabowo's and Anies's electability is 16.9 percentage points.
Burhanuddin also noted a significant increase in Prabowo's electability. At the beginning of October 2023, the electability of the Gerindra Party chairman stood at 37%, but in the latest survey at the beginning of November 2023, his electability rose to 40.6%.
Conversely, Ganjar experienced a decrease. The former Governor of Central Java saw his electability fall from 34.8% to 27.8% in the same period.
"Anies saw an increase, although not very significant, from 22.3% (early October 2023) to 23.7% (early November 2023)," said Burhanuddin.
According to Burhanuddin, a significant change occurred within a short period, approximately a week or after the closing of presidential and vice-presidential candidate registration at the KPU on October 25, 2023.
Burhanuddin stated that Prabowo and Anies' electability each strengthened by approximately 2% to 3%. This contrasts with Ganjar, who experienced a decrease of around 8%.
"The accumulated increase in support for Prabowo and Anies seems to be at Ganjar's expense," said Burhanuddin.
This survey involved 1,220 respondents aged 17 years and older or who were married. The survey sample was taken using a multistage random sampling method from all Indonesian provinces, proportionally distributed.
Data collection was conducted from October 27 to November 1, 2023, using face-to-face interviews. The survey's margin of error is 2.9% with a 95% confidence level.
