See the Tight Competition Between the Democrats and Golkar in 3 Recent Surveys

Results from three survey institutions regarding political party electability in the lead-up to the 2024 General Election show a tight competition between the Golkar Party and the Democratic Party for third and fourth place. Meanwhile, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) and the Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) remain firmly in first and second place, respectively.

According to a face-to-face Kompas Research and Development survey conducted from September 24 to October 7, 2022, the number of voters for the Democratic Party surpassed the Golkar Party. The Democratic Party held third place with 14% of the vote, while Golkar was just below with 7.9%.

In this survey, PDI-P remained the party with the most voters in October 2022, at 21.1%. PDI-P was followed by Gerindra with 16.2%.

Then, according to an IPS survey conducted from August 1 to 8, 2022, the electability of Golkar and the Democratic Party was very close. Based on this survey, Golkar had higher electability than the Democratic Party, with 10.9% and 10.8% of voters, respectively.

Meanwhile, an LSN survey conducted from June 10 to 24, 2022, showed the Democratic Party outperforming Golkar. Again, the difference between the two parties was small, less than 1%. The "blue party" (Democratic Party) achieved 11.1% electability, while Golkar reached 10.1%.
