This shows the PKB's vote acquisition in the 1999-2019 General Elections; it experienced a slump in the 2009 General Election.

The National Awakening Party (PKB) is one of the political parties born in the reform era. Declared by the scholars of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), PKB participated in the legislative elections for the first time in 1999.

In its debut in the legislative elections, PKB successfully garnered 13.2 million votes (12.62%) of the national valid votes. With this achievement, PKB managed to place 51 representatives (11.04%) in the House of Representatives (DPR).

However, PKB's vote share decreased to only 11.99 million votes (10.56%) of the national valid votes in the 2004 elections. PKB's vote share even plummeted to only 5.15 million votes (4.95%) of the national valid votes in the 2009 elections. As a result, the number of seats obtained by PKB also decreased to only 28 seats (5%).

PKB's vote share successfully increased to 11.29 million votes (9.04%) in the 2014 elections. This number increased again to 13.57 million votes (9.69%) of the national valid votes in the 2019 elections. With the increase in votes, the number of DPR members from PKB also increased to 58 (10.09%) out of a total of 575 for the 2019-2024 period.

With the vote share in 2019, PKB could not nominate a presidential/vice-presidential candidate (capres/cawapres) independently because it did not meet the threshold (Presidential Threshold). Therefore, collaboration with other parties is needed to meet the threshold requirements.

Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections states that a political party or coalition of political parties that will nominate a presidential/vice-presidential candidate must obtain at least 20% of DPR seats or at least 25% of the total national valid votes.
