Ipsos Indonesia, a research institute, has released the results of a survey on the electability of political parties (parpol) that will contest the 2024 General Election (Pemilu). The results show that three parties dominate the current electability landscape.
PDI-P leads with an electability rating of 24.33%. It is followed by Gerindra with 18.42%, and Golkar with 9.5%.
Ipsos senior researcher Arif Nurul Imam stated that PDI-P's position remains strong and even shows an upward trend compared to previous surveys. However, he did not specify the extent of the increase.
"I think the electability map for parties hasn't changed much. It's still dominated by three major parties: PDI-P, Gerindra, and Golkar," said Arif in an online press conference on Wednesday (September 6, 2023).
Nasdem's electability is recorded at 7%. Next are PKB and PKS with electability ratings of 4.92% and 4.67%, respectively.
The remaining 9.84% of respondents chose other parties, while 21.33% were undecided.
Previously, PDI-P was also the leading party in the 2019 General Election. According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the party led by Megawati garnered 27.05 million valid votes, representing 19.33% of the total 139.97 million valid votes nationwide.
This Ipsos survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews with 1,200 respondents spread across 24 provinces in Indonesia. The sample comprised 50.8% male and 49.2% female respondents.
The majority of respondents (47.5%) were from Java, followed by Sumatra (19.2%). Respondents from Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Bali-Nusa Tenggara, and Maluku-Papua ranged from 5% to 10.8%.
Interviews were conducted from August 22-27, 2023, using the Ipsos Ifield application, a computer-assisted personal interviews (CAPI) system. The margin of error is approximately 2.83% with a 95% confidence level.
