Celios: President and Officials' Total Wealth Soars in 2024

The Center for Economics and Law Studies (Celios) research found an increase in the wealth of public officials, including President Prabowo Subianto, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and the ministers of the Red and White Cabinet.

In 2023, the accumulated wealth of these state officials totaled Rp19.57 trillion. This increased to Rp21.32 trillion in 2024.

"This increase represents an additional approximately Rp1.75 trillion, or almost 9%, in one year," wrote Celios in its release, Shrinking Middle Class, Taxes, Debt, and the Way Out.

Similarly, individual wealth saw an increase. In 2023, the average wealth of state officials was Rp391 billion per person. This jumped to Rp426 billion per person in 2024.

In addition, Celios Fiscal Justice Director Media Wahyudi Askar highlighted the dominance of the ultra-wealthy in the government. The median wealth of ministers in this period reached Rp55.1 billion, up almost 50% from the previous cabinet.

"Currently, the median wealth of the Prabowo-Gibran cabinet is 671 times greater than the median wealth of Indonesian citizens," Media stated in his press release on Thursday (September 4, 2025).

In response, Celios believes that the taxes paid by state officials should be public information. This would allow the public to assess the consistency between reported wealth and tax contributions.
