The Newly Appointed Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Irfan Yusuf's Wealth

President Prabowo appointed Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, also known as Gus Irfan, as Minister of Hajj and Umrah at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Monday, September 8, 2025.

Previously, Gus Irfan served as the Head of the Hajj Organizing Body (BP) since October 22, 2024. Through a revision of Law Number 8 of 2019 concerning the Organization of Hajj and Umrah Pilgrimages, the BP's status changed to a special agency at the ministerial level.

This provision elevated Irfan's position from head of the agency to minister.

Gus Irfan is known as a prominent religious leader and the caretaker of an Islamic boarding school (pondok pesantren) in Jombang, East Java. He is the grandson of the founder of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), KH Hasyim Asy'ari.

Based on the State Officials' Wealth Report (LHKPN) from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Irfan has assets worth Rp16.26 billion (approximately USD 1.07 billion) at the end of 2024.

The majority of his assets are property worth Rp13.26 billion, consisting of six land plots and buildings. This property is spread across Jombang and Surabaya.

The Minister of Hajj and Umrah is also reported to have cash and cash equivalents of Rp2.42 billion; transportation assets of Rp505 million; and other movable assets of Rp70 million.

Irfan's transportation assets include a Mitsubishi Pajero (2021), a Honda Vario motorcycle (2010), and a Yamaha Mio motorcycle (2008).
