A total of 961 elected regional heads from the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections were inaugurated at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday (20/2/2025).

The inaugurated regional heads comprised 33 governors, 33 deputy governors, 363 regents, 362 deputy regents, 85 mayors, and 85 deputy mayors.

Kompas Research and Development's survey shows several public expectations for the newly inaugurated regional heads.

Economic improvement and job creation were the most anticipated by 34.1% of respondents.

Other expectations included transparent and clean governance free from corruption (25.9%); improved education quality (16.2%); and infrastructure development and public services (8.8%).

Furthermore, 7.4% of respondents wanted the elected regional heads to improve healthcare services, 3.6% hoped for environmental protection, while another 4% responded "don't know."

"Regarding campaign promises, the public may have forgotten the specifics of what was promised," wrote the Kompas Research and Development researcher in their report on Thursday (20/2/2025).

Nevertheless, Kompas Research and Development assessed that these expectations could address public doubts about their new regional heads.

This survey involved 529 respondents from 38 provinces randomly selected from the Kompas Research and Development panel, in accordance with the population proportion in each province.

Data collection was conducted from February 10-13, 2025, through telephone interviews. The survey's margin of error is approximately 4.22% with a 95% confidence level, under conditions of simple random sampling.
