KPK Sting: Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo’s Wealth

The Regent of Tulungagung, Gatut Sunu Wibowo, was caught in a sting operation (OTT) by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Friday (10/4/2026). He was suspected of exploiting his status as a civil servant and using a letter of resignation from his position to extort local officials.

"This document was then allegedly used by GSW as a means to control and pressure officials to remain loyal," said KPK Deputy for Investigation and Enforcement Asep Guntur Rahayu at the KPK's Red and White Building in Jakarta, as reported by Katadata on Saturday (11/4/2026).

The KPK explained two modus operandi used by Gatut. First, he directly demanded money or through intermediaries ranging from Rp15 million to Rp2.8 billion. Second, he added or shifted the budgets of several local government organizations (OPDs).

In both schemes, Gatut allegedly charged 50% of the added budget value.

Gatut was also said to have targeted Rp5 billion from 16 heads of OPDs in Tulungagung Regency. However, he only managed to collect Rp2.7 billion from December 2025 to April 2026.

According to the State Officials' Wealth Report (LHKPN), Gatut had a wealth of Rp20.33 billion in 2025.

Most of his assets consisted of 20 plots of land and buildings worth Rp14.53 billion, spread across Tulungagung, Surabaya, Tanah Laut, and Trenggalek.

The Tulungagung Regent was also reported to own transportation equipment worth Rp1.74 billion, cash and cash equivalents of Rp592 million, and other movable assets worth Rp1.74 billion.

The transportation equipment reportedly included 12 cars, namely a Toyota Alphard (2021), Toyota Innova Zenix (2024), Toyota Innova (2021), Mitsubishi L300 (2002), Toyota Land Cruiser (2013), and 7 units of Mitsubishi Trucks.

In addition, he also owned 6 units of Honda SPM Solo motorcycles with different model years.
