Kompas Research and Development: Dedi-Erwan Pair Significantly Leads in West Java 2024 Gubernatorial Election Simulation

Kompas Research and Development (Litbang Kompas) released the latest survey results on the electability of gubernatorial and vice-gubernatorial candidates for the 2024 West Java Regional Elections (Pilkada).

The results show that the candidate pair Dedi Mulyadi-Erwan Setiawan is significantly ahead with 65% electability in early November 2024.

Ahmad Syaikhu-Ilham Habibie follows with 9% of the respondent votes.

The other two candidate pairs, Jeje Wiradinata-Ronal Surapradja and Acep Adang Ruhiat-Gitalis Dwi Natarina, each received less than 5%.

"This makes it difficult for the other three candidate pairs to catch up with Dedi-Erwan's electability," said the Kompas Litbang team in their report on Thursday (14/11/2024).

Meanwhile, 17.3% of respondents remain undecided.

Kompas Litbang also recorded the considerations of West Java residents in choosing a leader. 22.1% of respondents prioritized candidate quality, and 19.2% sought candidates with experience in government.

Other considerations included vision, mission, and work programs (17.6%); moral integrity (9.6%); and physical appearance (3.7%).

The survey involved 630 respondents randomly selected using a stratified systematic sampling method in West Java.

Data collection was conducted from November 1-9, 2024, through face-to-face interviews. The survey's margin of error is approximately 3.9% with a 95% confidence level, under conditions of simple random sampling.
