Fixpoll Presidential Candidate Survey: Prabowo the Strongest Candidate for Indonesian President

Several figures are expected to contend in the 2024 presidential election. A Fixpoll survey shows that Prabowo Subianto is the strongest presidential candidate in Indonesia if the presidential election were held now. 17.3% of respondents chose Prabowo in an open-ended question.

The second strongest candidate, based on responses from 10% of respondents, is the current president, Joko Widodo. Several incumbent governors also made the list: Ganjar Pranowo at 8.2%, Anies Baswedan at 7.1%, and Ridwan Kamil at 3.5%.

Furthermore, Sandiaga Uno, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy and Prabowo's running mate in the 2019 Presidential Election, is in sixth place with 2.2%. He is followed by the son of a former Indonesian president, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, with 2% of respondent votes, and Puan Maharani with 1.4%.

The same trend is observed in the closed-ended question. Prabowo is the strongest candidate chosen in this survey, at 20.7%. However, Ganjar Pranowo achieved second place with 15.2%, followed by Anies Baswedan.

The survey was conducted from July 16 to 27, 2021, involving 1,240 respondents. The method used was multistage random sampling. The margin of error in this survey is approximately below 2.89% with a 95% confidence level.
