Unemployment to Corruption: A List of Indonesia's Main Problems

Indonesia currently faces several major problems, ranging from unemployment, poverty, national debt, to corruption.

According to a KedaiKopi survey titled "Opportunities from Outside Java," at least 17 major Indonesian problems require government attention. The majority of respondents (20.8%) cited unemployment as the main problem in the country.

High staple food prices ranked second as a major Indonesian problem, accounting for 17.6% of responses.

Covid-19 came in third (17.5%), followed by poverty (9.6%).

5.2% of respondents identified infrastructure and development as a major issue. Corruption and education each received 3.9% and 3.7% of responses, respectively.

Uneven distribution of aid was cited by 3.1% of respondents as a major problem. The economy and healthcare each received 2.9% and 2.7% of responses, respectively.

Low income was identified as a major problem by 2.2% of respondents, followed by other issues such as public welfare (1.9%), SARA issues (1.4%), national debt (1.2%), the legal system (1%), natural disasters (0.7%), and narcotics (0.1%). 4.5% of respondents said they didn't know.

This survey involved 1,202 respondents aged 17-65 across 34 provinces. It was conducted from January 17-24, 2022, using a face-to-face interview (computer-assisted personal interviewing) method with a margin of error of ± 2.83% at a 95% confidence interval.
