The General Election Commission (KPU) announced the recapitulation of the legislative election (Pileg) votes for 2024 on Wednesday (20/3/2024).
Eight out of 18 participating political parties (parpol) in the 2024 General Election met the parliamentary threshold of 4%.
The parties that passed are PDI-P, Golkar, Gerindra, PKB, Nasdem, PKS, Demokrat, and PAN.
PDI-P obtained the highest number of votes in the 2024 Pileg, with 25.38 million votes or 16.72% of the total votes. This is a decrease of 2.61 percentage points from the 2019 Pileg, where it received 19.33% of the vote.
Golkar and Gerindra followed, each securing 23.20 million votes (15.29%) and 20.07 million votes (13.22%), respectively.
Ten other parpol failed to enter parliament, including both established and new parties.
Compared to the 2019 Pileg, the number of parpol entering parliament this year decreased. Nine parties entered parliament in 2019.
The United Development Party (PPP) is the only party that failed to enter parliament because its vote share in the 2024 Pileg did not reach 4%.
In this year's election, PPP only managed to garner 5.87 million votes or 3.87%. In the 2019 Pileg, the party received 6.32 million votes or 4.52%.
PPP Sues 2024 Pileg Results in Constitutional Court
Responding to the recapitulation of the 2024 Pileg results, PPP DPP Chairman Achmad Baidowi stated that his party will file a lawsuit with the Constitutional Court (MK).
"In accordance with the law, PPP has three days to respond to the national recapitulation results by submitting it to the MK," Achmad said in his statement, as reported by Antara, Wednesday (20/3/2024).
He claims that internal PPP data shows the party exceeded the 4% threshold.
"We are collecting data from the DPC (District Leadership Council) and are currently verifying it," said Achmad.
However, Achmad stated that PPP respects the national recapitulation results announced by the KPU as a stage of the election process according to the Election Law, namely 35 days after the voting.
